Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum
Peptic ulcer is a disease caused by a relative weakening of the protection of the mucous membrane of the stomach and duodenum. During periods of exacerbation, which are often seasonal, this leads to the formation of a mucosal ulcer. Hirudotherapy can be a leading method of treatment in the presence of signs of venous plethora of the abdominal organs. In other cases, it is of an auxiliary nature, helping to accelerate the healing of the ulcer. Hirudotherapy at local points is very useful in the appearance of cicatricial deformities of the duodenum - in this case, its timely appointment is especially important.

Leech application zones.
- Anterior abdominal zone - points 2, 3, 4 (as a rule, they are slightly painful in pathology) and point 1 at the top of the xiphoid process. A very effective application of leeches to the points of maximum pain in the anterior abdominal zone (points 5, 6).
- Lumbothoracic zone: along the midline at the level of the 11th, 12th thoracic (point 15) and 12th thoracic - 1st lumbar (point 16) vertebrae and two transverse fingers outward from them (points 17 and 18, 19 and 20, respectively). When choosing the points of application, preference should also be given to the painful ones.
- Hepatic zone - the area of the right hypochondrium (points 9, 10, 11, 12), points 7 and 8 in the VI intercostal space along the mid-clavicular line.
- Umbilical region: points 13 and 14, located 4-6 centimeters outward from the navel.
- Sacral zone: points 21 and 22 in the area of the end of the coccyx, in the projection area of the sacrum (points 23, 24, 25, 26).
Peculiarities of the procedures.
In the presence of signs of venous plethora of the abdominal organs, it is advisable to alternate the points of zones 1 and 3, 2 and 5. In this case, the number of leeches on the points of zones 3 and 4 should be somewhere larger. When you are using hirudotherapy only to accelerate the processes of ulcer scarring, two points of zones 1 and 2 are used sequentially with the application of at least two leeches.
Number of leeches: when working on local zones (1, 2, and 4), we do 2-3 applications per procedure, on zones 3 and 5 - 3-5 applications.
Number and frequency of sessions: with an exacerbation of diseases, up to 5-6 applications are made every other day, then 2 times a week up to 10-11 applications. The duration of the course is largely determined by the body’s reaction to the procedures.
Combination with other methods of naturopathy: hirudotherapy is combined with phytotherapy, relaxation therapy, the use of juices and biologically active products (mumiyo, propolis). Rational diet therapy is mandatory.
