Kidney diseases

Hirudotherapy is most indicated for kidney diseases with complex treatment of glomerulonephritis, chronic renal failure, and the consequences of traumatic kidney injury.

Treatment of kidneys, nephritis

Leech application zones.

  • Lumbar zone - point 1 along the midline at the level of the 2nd, 3rd lumbar vertebrae, two, four, and six transverse fingers outward from it on both sides (points 2 and 3, 8 and 9, 6 and 7), points 4 and 5, 10 and 11 above and below points 2 and 3, other points on the affected side in the zones shown in the figure (painful on pressure) can also be used.
  • Sacral zone - the areas of the sacro-coccygeal joint (point 12) and the projection of the sacrum (points 13, 14, 15, 16).
  • Lower abdominal zone - along the midline three transverse fingers below the navel (point 20) and point 17 above the pubis.
  • Hepatic zone - in the projection of the liver, point 19 in the VI intercostal space at the level of the mid-clavicular line and point 19 at the top of the xiphoid process.

Peculiarities of the procedures.

The points of the lumbar region mainly are used. In the treatment of glomerulonephritis, the points of the sternum and above the thyroid gland are also connected, and in chronic renal failure, an additional emphasis is placed on the hepatic zone. The presence of signs of intra-abdominal plethora determines the inclusion of the points of the sacral zone.

Number of leeches: from 2-3 leeches per procedure for glomerulonephritis to 7-8 for the consequences of trauma and the treatment of renal failure (in the absence of anemia).

Number and frequency of sessions: the first 5-7 procedures are carried out every other day, then 2 times a week. The course of treatment is 7-12 procedures. As a rule, repeated courses of treatment are required.

Combination with other methods of naturopathy: hirudotherapy for glomerulonephritis should be carried out only by a doctor with constant monitoring of the results of analyzes and taking into account the state of the patient’s immune system. With improper treatment, you can cause an exacerbation of the disease and worsening of the patient’s health. As with chronic renal failure.
